Christine Mahler
Executive Director Christine comes to KGF from the Washington Wildlife & Recreation Coalition, where she advocated for funding for parks and habitat lands throughout Washington—including Kubota Garden! Originally from Missoula, Montana, she returned to the Northwest after almost a decade in the “other” Washington, where she led fundraising and outreach efforts for causes ranging from international affairs to money-in-politics reform. Her 15+ years in nonprofits have had a common thread of relationship management and working with broad ranging coalitions and boards. Christine grew up loving the outdoors. As a child, you could usually find her outside. Today, although she loves hiking trips into the backcountry, she is passionate about ensuring everyone is able to enjoy the wonders of nature close to home. In her free time, Christine enjoys traveling, vegetable gardening, reading, cooking & baking, watching soccer (she’s an unapologetic DC United supporter!), and exploring all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. When not traveling or gardening, weekends usually find her hiking with her partner Sam, their dogs Tahoma and Loowit by their sides. Christine@kubotagarden.org |
Sophia Eichholz
Program Manager Sophia manages KGF's various education, horticulture, and cultural programs such as the Stone Sculpture Exhibit, Wandering & Wondering, Iris Exhibit, and Soapstone Carving Workshop for Youth. She works in collaboration with organization and individual partners, Seattle Parks and Recreation, and KGF's board, staff, and volunteers to identify the goals, develop, implement, and evaluate new and existing programs. Her work strives for KGF programs to be inclusive, accessible and an opportunity for diverse groups to come together and enjoy the garden through a new perspective. Sophia is originally from Long Island, NY and moved to Seattle to get her masters degree in Museology from the University of Washington. She likes to spend her free time working on art projects and exploring the many natural spaces surrounding the city. Sophia@kubotagarden.org |
Sara Dong
Volunteer Engagement Coordinator Sara coordinates existing volunteer programming at Kubota Garden, such as Tuesdays in the Garden, and develops new initiatives as needed. She collaborates with the Seattle Parks and Recreation gardeners, and local community groups to determine and implement volunteer program goals. Sara also coordinates tours of the garden, staffing of events, Garden Greeters during the summer and fall, as well as hands-on group work parties for organizations throughout the year. To reward KGF's volunteers, Sara also organizes enrichment programs for volunteers. These may include private tours of other local gardens, presentations by plant experts, or access to special events. volunteers@kubotagarden.org |
Lola Peters
Office Administrator Lola manages the office's day-to-day duties. She has primary responsibility for the membership database and processes donations. She coordinates all membership mailings, updates the website, and provides support to the Board and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator. info@kubotagarden.org 206-725-5060 |
