Getting here

All Seattle Parks & Recreation properties are experiencing an increase in parking lot prowls and car break-ins. Please remove all valuables from your vehicle. If you must leave items in your vehicle, put them in the trunk or other hidden areas BEFORE arriving at the parking lot.
Light rail:
Take light rail from either SeaTac airport or Downtown Seattle and disembark at the Rainier Beach station. Take either Metro Flex or the #106 bus (see below) to Kubota Garden.

Metro Flex:
Starting March 6, 2023, Metro Flex has replaced Via to Transit. Download the new Metro Flex app from your app store to ride Metro’s on-demand mini-van service. You can simply download the app and hail a ride from anywhere within the service area to any other location within that same service area. You can also call 206-258-7739 to book your ride to Kubota Garden. Metro Flex costs the same as any other transit and can be paid via Orca Card, Transit GO ticket, or credit/debit card. Check their website for details.

Bus:
The #106 bus stops on Renton Ave S right in front of Kubota Garden. It also stops at the light rail station.

Driving from the north:
  • On I-5, leave the freeway at Pacific Highway South/East Marginal Way, Exit 158.
  • Turn left toward Martin Luther King, Jr. Way; continue up the hill on Ryan Way.
  • Turn left on 51st Avenue South.
  • Turn right on Renton Avenue South.
  • Turn right on 55th Avenue South to parking lot.

Driving from the south:
  • On I-5, leave the freeway at Martin Luther King Jr., Exit 157.
  • Stay on Martin Luther King, Jr. Way.
  • Turn right at the first traffic light onto Ryan Way.
  • Turn left on 51st Avenue South.
  • Turn right on Renton Avenue South.
  • Turn right on 55th Avenue South to parking lot.
